Our Story

James Edward Hatch founded the company in 1974 as a self-employed site-based fitter working on plant and commercial vehicles for numerous customers.

A decade later in 1984, James began working out of his own garage in Chorley where the company is still based to this day. James’s only son Stuart joined him when he left school forming James E. Hatch & Son.

In 1985 we began maintaining and repairing Timber Engineering Machinery for customers across the UK and Ireland.

In 1992 the company began priming timber for a wide range of internal and external uses. This ranged from fascia’s and soffits to architraves and skirting boards.

In 2005 the company began trialling producing fully factory finished timber as part of our long term development plan.

In 2017 Frazer and Jacob Hatch joined the family business.

In 2019 we built ourselves a new timber coating facility, with the focus of improving operations, while providing our customers with the service, advice, help and support they have come to expect.
