Accoya is a modified timber produced in Arnhem, in the Netherlands. The timber undergoes a process called Acetylation at high temperature which increases the number of moisture resistant acetyl groups in the timber.
The process changes the chemical structure of the wood from the surface to the core, which provides a class-leading, durable and exceptionally stable product. Accoya is fast becoming the material of choice for exterior applications and can be used for virtually anything, from windows to doors, decking to cladding and even applications that perviously weren’t feasible with timber.
Fast growing and abundantly available timber species, such as Radiata Pine, are used to create Accoya. The use of wood species that produce larger volumes of wood, over the same time span, for the same area of land offers clear environmental advantages.
Accoya’s enhanced durability means the brand offers a life span of at least 50 years above ground and 25 years below it.
Accoya can be coated in a wide range of different coatings and treatments. It can be coated in translucent’s as well as opaque coatings in order to achieve the finish best suited to your requirements.
