Redwood thermowood is a thermally modified timber that uses Scandinavian Redwood from well managed forests. The timber is thermally modified in order to enhance its chemical and physical properties by changing the cellular structure. The process provides many benefits which include greater stability, and no toxic chemicals or additives making it more stable than untreated timber.
The timber darkens during the thermal modification process to a deep brown, the final colour of the timber depends on the treatment temperature.
By increasing the stability of the timber it is more resistant to twisting and moving once fitted.
Redwood Thermowood can be coated in a wide range of coatings, from translucent’s to opaques and low build stains.
