Redwood Thermowood was the timber species of choice for the cladded elevations. Redwood Thermowood is created by heat treating softwood predominantly grown in Scandinavian forests. The heat treatment process is carried out in controlled factories where timber is heated to around 212 degrees. During this process chemical and structural changes take place which alter and improve the timbers performance. It is much more stable than untreated softwood which increases its suitability for different coatings and treatments to be applied.
We applied a medium film build coating system which was tinted to RAL 9005 Jet Black for a solid black finish. The use of a solid coating system results in a consistent finish. These opaque finishes prevent the colour from the timber grain from showing through the coating, which results in a uniform finish.
