Natural Coatings for Timber Cladding
Timber cladding naturally has a warm appearance with aesthetics and characteristics varying across different species. Often customers are looking to maintain this natural aesthetic and prevent weathering while maximising durability and minimising maintenance cycles.
When left uncoated, timber cladding will naturally weather due exposure to UV Light. UV light breaks down the wood’s surface lignin, resulting in the bleaching and greying of timber cladding. A completely colourless or clear coating system does not provide any kind of UV protection, and the treated surface will therefore weather and bleach as fast as an uncoated surface.
Our natural coatings maximise UV and weather damage protection while maintaining the timber cladding’s natural aesthetics, this is achieved using a special combination of pigments, binders and UV blockers to compliment the natural shades of the timber, therefore offering vast durability benefits compared to a clear coating. Our natural range also offers active protection against mold and algae.

Therefore these swatches should be used as a guide and official samples will be provided in your selected species, surface finish and shade for approval before processing.
Factory Coating
Factory coating timber cladding prior to delivery is the best way to guarantee a consistent and professional finish. We process our timber products in our purpose built, state of the art timber coating factory using modern methods and application machinery. The timber undergoes vigorous pre-application quality inspections before being prepared via sanding or texturing. Once prepared the timber begins the coating process where it is coated all around in the requisite amount of coats with quality inspections carried out at numerous parts of the process. Once coated the timber then moves to our curing / drying area before final quality checks and being packaged for delivery.

Maintenance
All natural coating systems will require maintenance in order to maintain aesthetics and performance. We recommend an annual inspection in order to identify early any signs of coating degradation. Cleaning is also recommended as required in order to remove any dirt or air borne pollutants which can become a food source for algae. Maintenance intervals are determined by a range of factors such as the timber species, profile, building location and cardinal direction.
