Wood stain coating systems for timber cladding are a high performance, non-film forming system with high penetration properties. Wood stain systems penetrate deep into the timber substrate and provide excellent protection against weathering. The non-film forming nature of wood stains offer an extremely natural, matte finish.
Timber cladding is a natural material and each species has its own characteristics which need to be considered at the design stage in order to optimise performance. Considerations also need to be made to factors such as species, profile, orientation and surface finish in order to specify the correct coating system.
Wood stains are available in a wide range of colours, from lighter more natural looking shades as well as RAL colours.
All of our coatings are water based systems which are environmentally friendly and contain low levels of VOCs (volatile organic compounds). Wood stain coating systems vary in the amount of coats required depending on the manufacturer and system specification. Our team will specify the most suitable coating system based on the timber species selected, building design, desired aesthetic and various other factors.

The swatches above are various species and have been produced professionally in factory conditions. The substrate selected will have an effect on the overall appearance and finish of the product. Therefore these swatches should be used as a guide and official samples will be provided in your selected species, surface finish and shade for approval before processing.
Factory coating timber cladding prior to delivery is the best way to guarantee a consistent and professional finish. We process our timber products in our purpose built, state of the art timber coating factory using modern methods and application machinery. The timber undergoes vigorous pre-application quality inspections before being prepared via sanding or texturing. Once prepared the timber begins the coating process where it is coated all around in the requisite amount of coats with quality inspections carried out at numerous parts of the process. Once coated the timber then moves to our curing / drying area before final quality checks and being packaged for delivery.

All coating systems will require maintenance in order to maintain aesthetics and performance. We recommend an annual inspection in order to identify early any signs of coating degradation. Cleaning is also recommended as required in order to remove any dirt or air borne pollutants which can become a food source for algae. Maintenance intervals are determined by a range of factors such as the timber species, profile, building location and cardinal direction. Due to the non-film build nature of wood stains, maintenance is required sooner when compared to a film forming coating system. For more information about maintenance please contact our specification team.
