Redwood Thermowood
Redwood Thermowood is a timber that has been thermally modified in order to enhance its durability and stability. Redwood Thermowood uses Scandinavian Redwood and is baked to temperatures in excess of 215 degrees and uses steam and pressure. This process changes the cellular structure of the timber and results in an extremely durable timber that is ideal for a range of coatings.
When used as timber cladding, a key advantage of Redwood Thermowood is its stability. The treatment process makes the timber significantly more resistant to moisture than unmodified timber, which reduces the shrinkage and swelling of the timber significantly, making it ideal for coatings. The reduction in movement levels allow coatings to last longer as it is not constantly expanding and contrasting.
